There is no diplomacy, intrigue, Bene Gesserite influence, or Weirding Way. This is basically a Dune mod for Command and Conquer, or DuneLite. If not, then after they flee or are wiped out the ground troops move in. If there is enough of them, then game over. Okay, one that wave is over, next come the tanks. They either cripple base defenses or get pulverized. Bikes and buggies are the fastest so they show up first. How does the battle work? Well eventually you will have enough troops or the enemy will and one of you will attack the other. They can't ride worms or anything though. They are cute little brown sprites that have the ability to cloak. Don't remember them from the book/movie? Don't worry, they aren't there. Most of the main Dune players are here, House Harkonnen, House Atredes, and the Imperials. Then you use, I don't know, spice bucks? to purchase buildings, train troops, build tanks. Instead of tiderium, or turbonium, you harvest spice. While this game is set in the Dune universe, it incorporates almost no Dune elements. Having said that, this game is a huge disappointment. Okay, this is an update to Dune 2, a game I never played. A 16-bit colour mode is the default setting, setting the game's graphics on par with the Command & Conquer games that came before it, while an 8-bit colour mode is available as an option in the game's settings.Įverything from the original is back: sandworms, the spice, the Fremen, the known structures and the map of the planet, and even the intro cinematic is an enhanced live-action/CGI version of the original one. Unlike the original, the cutscenes happen after every mission, with a live-cast this time, like already seen in Westwood Studios' Command & Conquer franchise. The Harkonnen just go brutal, with no care for lives of their own troops or destruction, as long as they are victorious. The Ordos rely on guerrilla tactics and superior technology, as well as mercenaries. The Atreides have air superiority and rely on their honor and alliance with planet natives, the Fremen. Each has different sets of units and tactics while maintaining an overall balance. In this real-time strategy game, you can play one of the three houses: the noble Atreides, the insidious Ordos, or the evil Harkonnen. Dune 2000 is a remake of the classic Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty, updated for Windows.
